The grain on this board fasinated me. The board took in the whole width of the tree, yet as the tree grew with a gentle curve the lines created lines I wanted to honour. We followed these lines in cutting and a series of wedges allowed the whole board to appear to breath in and expand. It made me think alot of the increases of hydraulic pressure that occur inside the timber when it rains which cause branches to rise.
