This is a piece of Hazel from a 'coppiced hazel stool', which is a multi-stem rooting system that will live definitely long if it cut back to the ground every 15-20 years. This habit evolved in hazel and many other native hardwoods when the land was roamed by large herbivores.

Every piece of wood is different.  This was a beautifully straight and clean section from near to the ground where no branches grew until it forked into two branches which is the detail you can see in at the end of the branch.

Material: Steam-Bent Hazel, Limestone from the forest, reclaimed stainless steel and reclaimed felt.
